Screen Alert

Your comic,
their next film.

When a character who first appeared in a comic you own is announced for a film or TV series, Mint Menace tells you, with the source. It checks your collection on your phone, so nothing about it leaves your hands.

What it looks like

One alert.
One source.

An announcement lands: a character is going to be in a film or a series. Mint Menace checks whether that character's first appearance is one of the comics in your collection. If it is, you get one alert, naming the comic, the project and where the news came from.

Alerts appear in My Comics, only for comics you own. The app sends no notifications. The example here is invented, down to the character.

How the match is made

Checked by hand, not by name.

Each film or TV project is linked to a character's first appearance by a person checking the record, not by matching names in a database. Matching by name was tried and dropped after it linked a villain's name to a children's comic that happened to share it.

The list of projects is kept with the catalogue and refreshed in app updates. Where there is no confirmed first appearance, there is no alert.

Private, like everything else

The check happens on the phone.

The projects list travels to your phone with the catalogue. The comparison against your collection happens there. Your collection is never sent anywhere to be checked, and no server learns what you own.

An alert tells you something about a comic you already hold. It does not tell you what it is worth; it tells you where to look.
